This Google Chrome Page Shows All Interstitial Warnings

Google Chrome is the most popular web browser which exists for all major platforms like Windows, Android and Linux. It comes with a powerful rendering engine which supports all modern web standards. The browser comes with a hidden secret page that demonstrates all interstitial warnings or notifications that may be encountered while browsing the web with Chrome.

Most of the Google Chrome users have seen an interstitial warning page at least once. It is a web page with the red background that shows a warning sign and a "back to safety" link. For example, if a web site has an expired SSL certificate, the browser will display the appropriate warning before allowing you to proceed.

Lawrence Abrams of Bleeping Computer has discovered an internal web page, chrome://interstitials, that allows you to view all warnings that are supported by the Chrome version you are using. According to him, Chrome 70 will have different warning interstitials than Chrome 71.

To see all interstitial warnings in Google Chrome, do the following

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Type chrome://interstitials in the address bar.Google Chrome Interstitials Address Bar
  3. Hit the Enter key. You will see the following.Google Chrome Interstitials Page
  4. Click on any link to see the related warning page.

You can view interstitials related to SSL, SafeBrowsing, Captive Portal, and Supervised Users.  For the Safe Browsing category, you can also see normal warning pages that are shown in Chrome for mobile and desktop.

Note: WebView is the Android platform that allows web pages to be viewed within Android apps.  The warnings for WebView are typically less vibrant than the warnings shown in the Chrome browser.

Here is the full list of available interstitial warnings in Chrome 70.

As you may already know, Google Chrome incorporates a built-in ad-blocker. It is able to detect links disguised as play buttons and site controls, along with other sites which do not follow the Better Ads Standards. Such sites abuse the user experience by tricking the user into opening popups. Also, Chrome 71 version will block all ads on web sites with ‘abusive’ ads.
