Google Chrome has a number of hidden settings, some of which are disabled by default because they are experimental. Many of these make it eventually into Chrome as a regular feature, or some of them get dropped. In any case, you should note that the experimental settings can disappear any time. I would like to share with you some of the interesting Google Chrome hidden settings which can improve your browsing experience. We will start with a secret option called "Enable Fast Tab/Window Close" which affects the browser's tab closing performance.
The Fast Tab/Window Close is a hidden flag which when enabled runs the JavaScript page close events handler independently of the GUI. This means Google Chrome will close tabs and windows slightly faster.
Here is how it can be enabled.
- Open the Google Chrome browser and type the following text in the address bar:
chrome://flags/#enable-fast-unload
This will open the flags page directly with the relevant setting.
- Click the Enable link under the option. It will change its text to Disable.
- Restart Google Chrome by closing it manually or you can also use the Relaunch button which will appear at the very bottom of the page.
