Microsoft May Have Confirmed Windows 10 Version 2004 Release Date

Earlier this month, Mary Jo Foley (ZDNet) reported Microsoft delays Windows 10 version 2004. The delay might be caused by a zero-day vulnerability that Microsoft needs to fix before starting shipping the OS to OEMs. According to the source, the possible dates are as follows:

  • Release to OEMs/RTM: May 5, 2020
  • Availability to developers: May 12, 2020
  • General Availability: May 28, 2020

Microsoft has recently updated the Driver Shiproom Schedule for 2020 which comes with 26th, 27th, and 28th May 2020 dates as days reserved for Feature Updates.

Microsoft prepares the Driver Shiproom Schedule for OEMs to align driver releases with feature updates and cumulative patches in order to avoid issues caused by driver and update conflicts.

While the scheduled dates are not officially connected to Windows 10 release dates, they usually match them. This gives us an indication that dates listed above are actual release dates for Windows version 2004.
