How to disable Search popup in Opera 40

With Opera 40, a new search popup feature was added to the browser. When you select text on a page, it shows a special popup with Search and Copy functions. While certain users might find it useful, some users might want to disable it. In this article, we will see how to turn off the Search popup feature in Opera 40.

It is enabled by default. If you are not happy with this feature, here is how you can disable it.

  1. Click the Opera button to open its menu and select the Settings item (or you can press Alt + P):
  2. In Settings, click Browser on the left. On the right, scroll down until you see the User Interface section.
  3. There, untick the option Enable the search popup on selecting text:
