Microsoft has announced the Beta version of Microsoft Edge Chromium goes live. The Beta channel for their newest browser is now officially available to Insiders on Windows and macOS.

As you may already know, Microsoft is currently using three channels to deliver updates to Edge Insiders. The Canary channel receives updates daily (except Saturday and Sunday), the Dev channel is getting updates weekly, and the Beta channel is updated every 6 weeks. The stable channel is also on its way to users.

Today's release features the new Dark theme, IE Mode, Tracking Prevention, and more. The released build is 77.0.235.9.

The official announcement states the following:

Beta is the third and final preview channel which will come online before launch. As we release Beta, we remain committed to delivering a high-quality product and nailing the fundamentals of a great browsing experience. Beta represents the most stable preview channel, as features are added to Beta only after they have cleared quality testing in first the Canary channel and then the Dev channel. Major version updates can be expected roughly every six weeks, alongside periodic minor updates for bug fixes and security.

While still in the preview stage, with this announcement thenext version of Microsoft Edge is ready for everyday use. In the Beta today, you will see new ways to personalize your experience, along with support for 14 languages. With new tab page customization, you have the ability to choose what you want to see when you open a new web page by selecting either a Focused, Inspirational or Informational layout. You can also set a dark theme or visit the Microsoft Edge Insider Addons store or other Chromium-based web stores, such as the Chrome Web Store, to add your favorite extensions.

Microsoft has also noted a number of business features like Windows Defender Application Guard, Bing integration, and Internet Explorer mode

Also, Microsoft have launched a new Security Bounty Program for Edge Beta. They are looking for researchers to seek out and disclose any high-impact vulnerabilities they may find in the available Edge release channels and offer rewards up to US$30,000 for eligible vulnerabilities.

  • We aim to complement the Chrome Vulnerability Reward Program, so any report that reproduces on the latest version of Microsoft Edge but not Chrome will be reviewed for bounty eligibility based on severity, impact, and report quality.
  • Valid reports affecting the next version of Microsoft Edge will receive a 2X bonus multiplier in the Researcher Recognition Program.
  • Faster rewards: the new Microsoft Edge bounty program will provide bounty will award upon completion of reproduction and assessment of each submission.
