The newest feature of Windows 11 24H2, Automatic Super Resolution, will apparently be available only Copilot+ devices powered by Snapdragon X Elite. Support for the classic x86 platform, and older Snapdragon X Plus chips has not yet been announced.
With Windows 11 24H2, Microsoft has introduced a new feature called Automatic Super Resolution in Windows 11, which aims to enhance gaming performance by reducing rendering resolution and then utilizing artificial intelligence to upscale the image to a higher resolution. This feature serves as an alternative to technologies like DLSS and FSR.
What is Automatic super resolution?
Auto super resolution (Auto SR) seamlessly integrates with Windows to automatically enhance the frame rates of existing games in real-time while also providing detailed visuals on screen, offering a balance that exceeds what your PC hardware can achieve on its own.
At initial launch, this feature will be exclusive to Copilot+ PCs equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon@ X Elite processor and acurated set of games.
Although primarily targeted towards gaming, this feature could potentially be used by other Windows applications as well. The hardware limitation may change with the release of AMD Strix Point and Intel Lunar Lake processors by the end of 2024.
