Windows 10 will be released after July 29

Microsoft officially announced that Windows 10 will be available after July 29. Starting from that date, you will be able to buy new hardware with pre-installed Windows 10 or receive your digital copy of Windows 10 which you might have reserved in advance.

Microsoft stated the following:

On July 29, you can get Windows 10 for PCs and tablets by taking advantage of the free upgrade offer, or on a new Windows 10 PC from your favorite retailer. If you purchase a new Windows 8.1 device between now and then, the Windows 10 upgrade will be available to you and many retail stores will upgrade your new device for you.

Windows 10 is what Microsoft claims the next step on the way to a universal operating system for all kind of devices.

Windows 10 banner logo devs 04They reworked the whole operating system to have a Modern UI which now takes over most of the classic interface. Most settings from the classic Control Panel are moved to the Settings app, many classic apps are replaced with their modern alternatives. It is quite possible that in the final release of the operating system, or in the future Redstone update which is planned, we will not have the good old classic Control Panel at all. Another notable difference is that with Windows 10, Microsoft will change the release model of the operating system. There will be several types of Windows Update channels which will deliver updates to home and enterprise users on a different schedule.

I only hope that Microsoft knows what they are doing. The Windows 10 operating system at this moment is stable, but contains numerous small bugs which make for a very bad impression especially for the user interface of Windows 10. The UI lacks responsiveness too and works notably slower than any previous version of Windows. Many users might not be happy to see these regressions in the final version of Windows 10. What is your opinion about Microsoft's new OS? Do you plan to move on to Windows 10 soon?
