Windows 10 build 10586.14 available, all downloads are restored

Microsoft has restored all downloads with an updated build, Windows 10 build 10586.14. Earlier, the company had rolled out all ISO images and Media Creation Tool of the TH2 update and then pulled them abruptly. Now, everything has been returned however this shows the fragile nature of the rapid release development lifecycle where serious untested bugs can crop in.

Microsoft explained that the previous release had a bug:

Recently we learned of an issue that could have impacted an extremely small number of people who had already installed Windows 10 and applied the November update. Once these customers installed the November update, a few of their settings preferences may have inadvertently not been retained. For these customers, we will restore their settings over the coming days and we apologize for the inconvenience. We worked to resolve the issue as quickly as possible - it will not impact future installs of the November update, which is available today.

So, TechBench, ISO images and Media Creation Tool now point to the newer build Windows 10 build 10586.14.

Windows 10 build 10586 14As for existing installs, the first cumulative update for Windows 10 version 1511, KB3120677, includes all the bugfixes. It will be applied for everyone who has Windows Update enabled in Windows 10.

If you are interested in the details, the bug Microsoft fixed reset the following settings in the Privacy options of Windows 10:

  • Sync with devices.
  • Let apps use my advertising ID.
  • Let apps run in the background.
  • Turn on SmartScreen Filter for web content.

That's it. If you are using Windows 10 version 1511, it is a good idea to update it right now.

    1. Well, if ISOs are still 10586.0, when it should get the mentioned cumulative update to fix issues and increase the operating system version.

  1. It seems to be exactly the way it was before, The TH2 Windows 10 Media Creation Tool still has the “Single Language Bug”. It seems to not be autodetecting a Base Single Language Install correctly automatically selecting Windows 10. Moreover if one unchecks the “Use Recommended Option for this PC” then the Single Language Edition does not show until you ironically change Language and then Revert back to the Original Language selection….
