Get the special DRM-free version of the Firefox browser

As you might be knowing, Firefox 38 ships with a proprietary DRM component from Adobe. While it can be disabled as described HERE, some users may not want to perform additional tweaks to every installation of Firefox to disable the DRM. Mozilla understands this, so they have provided a separate DRM-free version of the Firefox browser for download.
firefox logo bannerMozilla added DRM support into their Firefox browser to provide you with the ability to play protected HTML5 videos. Mozilla developers implemented it as a plugin which can be disabled with any moment. However, if DRM is not acceptable to you at all, you can download a separate, DRM-free version of the browser.

Point your browser to the following link:

Download DRM-free Firefox version

There you will find a list of various languages in which Firefox DRM-free is available. Pick the desired language and click it. Now you will be able to download the Firefox Setup 38.0.exe file.

That's it. When it comes to DRM, Mozilla has been very courteous to the end user and still shows commitment to the open source ideology. Probably most users will appreciate this step. What do you think about DRM in Firefox? Which version of the browser are you going to use - the one with DRM or the DRM-free version?

  1. Sure they offer these. But there also was a bugzilla thread today where the high leads are not happy that these builds are offered – as this makes the picture that there is a good and a bad Firefox around.

Basically they would be more happy to offer the “bad” Firefox only, because they think it is “in the best interest of the user”! Let me not start to talk about the Settings change to add more “Chrome-Parity”!

Open Source Firefox spirit is dead, what is left is a Chrome UI clone and a Mozilla caring more for money through ads and DRM instead of keeping the Open Source candle high!

Mozilla is a horrible example for Open Source going the wrong way! And for a true Open Source advocate this is utterly disgusting to see!
